Society's Child

This is not one of your average poems 

about mother-nature or father-time 

This is about blood, sweat and tears 

and everyone's favorite subject: Crime

So, who shot the man at the hardware store? 

Circumstance won't get the credit 

publishers will even edit-out the real truth 

so, look to the mirror tor guidance

Poverty cocked the hammer

your environmentalism pulled the trigger 

sure, it's time to look down your nose, again 

at the heathen child that you have abandoned 

You cannot create a predator 

and then complain when it feeds

vengeance will come full circle one day

and the hunter may become the prey 

Pay-back is the name of the game 

an eye-for-an-eye is your motto 

your philosophy sucks

your Ism offers no forgiveness

So, who really shot the man at the hardware store?

Was the shooter a crazed, drugged-out psycho 

looking for his or her next fix -­

or simply, society's child

operating at the level they were reduced to?

For guidance in this matter

look to the mirror, my friend 

will you change things, or look down your nose

while your child grows hungry, again?

Dies ist kein gewöhnliches Gedicht

Über die Mutter Natur oder den Vater Zeit 

Dies ist eines über Blut, Schweiß und Tränen

Und jedermanns Lieblingsthema: Verbrechen

Also, wer erschoß den Mann in der Eisenwarenhandlung?

Die Umstände machen es nicht besser

Der Herausgeber wird sogar die Wahrheit weglassen

Drum, schau in den Spiegel für Beratung

Armut hat den Hammer gekocht

Dein Umfeld hat abgedrückt

Sicherlich ist es Zeit, an Deine eigene Nase zu fassen, wieder einmal

Auf das ungläubige Kind, dass du verlassen hat

Du kannst kein Raubtier erschaffen

Und dich dann darüber beschweren, wenn es eines geworden ist

Rache wird eines Tages in vollem Umfang zurückschlagen

Und der Jäger wird zur Beute

Rückzahlung ist der Name des Spiels

Und Auge um Auge dein Motto

Deine Weltanschauung kotzt mich an

Sie bietet keine Vergebung

Also, wer hat nun den Mann im Eisenwarenladen erschossen?  

War der Täter ein verrückter, mit Drogen voll gepumpter Psychopath 

Der nach seinem nächsten Schuss gesucht hat

Oder einfach nur ein Kind der Gesellschaft?  Das nach dem handelte, worauf es reduziert wurde?

Um in dieser Angelegenheit Hilfe zu bekommen

Schau in den Spiegel mein Freund 

Wirst Du etwas verändern, oder auf Deine Nase schauen 

Und Dein Kind schon wieder Hunger leidet?

The Beast

When the enemy rears it's ugly head

you can't tell friend from foe 

tax-vampires bleed you til you're dead 

friendly-fire killed more than one GI Joe

Medical profession robs you when you're sick

politicians weave a web of deceit 

everything rises, including your temper 

road-rage warriors battle on our streets

as the Good Book did foretell? 

Can I spend my days in heaven

and still raise a little hell?

After all, I'm not the shepherd 

I just supply the fleece

in this Land of Milk and Honey 

who am I to slay the beast?

Wenn der Feind seinen hässlichen Kopf hochhebt

Kannst du zwischen Freund und Feind nicht unterscheiden

Steuervampire bluten Dich aus bis Du stirbst

Ein freundliches Feuer hat mehr als einen unbekannten Joe getötet

Mediziner nehmen Dir das letzte Hemd wenn Du krank wirst

Politiker spinnen ein Netz der List

Alles steigt, auch deine Stimmung

Straßenwütende Krieger bekämpfen sich auf deinen Straßen

Obdachlose Kriegsveteranen sammeln Dosen

Schusssichere Klassenzimmer, verängstigte Kinder

Schüsse aus vorbeifahrenden Autos und Satans-Musik

Schlechte Polizisten und Gerichte tun ihr Übriges

Also, wer ist hier der wirkliche Feind?

Bin ich Dr. Jekyll sowie Mr. Hyde?

Habe ich meinen Lebensstandart verbessert Oder einfach nur meinen Stolz herabgesenkt?

Werde ich mich gegen meinen Bruder wenden

Wie es das gute Buch vorausgesagt hat?

Kann ich meine Tage im Himmel

Oder in der Hölle verbringen?

Letztendlich bin ich nicht der Hirte

Ich stelle nur das flauschige Fell zur Verfügung

Im Land von Milch und Honig

Wer bin ich, um das Biest zu erlegen? 

The Truth

there is no left or right

it hits the mark dead center 

creating its own light

Sometimes that call it bitter 

sometimes they call it sweet 

sometimes it lies there hidden 

behind the shroud, Deceit

It killed young Martin Luther 

and another King, called Christ 

oId Socrates and Malcolm

fell victim to it twice

The cold hard facts are many 

like sand upon the shore

the wage of sin is death 

you've heard that said before

Our history paints a picture 

of greed, deceit and sin 

when evil rears its ugly head 

sometimes we cal1 it friend

But, in our hearts we know 

that love will conquer hate 

I pray you find the answer 

before it is too late

Bei ihr gibt kein links oder rechts

Sie trifft genau ins Mark

Und erschafft ihr eigenes Licht

Manchmal ist sie hart

Manchmal auch süß

Manchmal bleibt sie unerkannt

Unter dem Leichentuch der Arglist

Sie hat den jungen Martin Luther getötet

Und einen anderen König, der Christus hieß

Der alte Socrates und Malcom

Wurden beides mal ihr Opfer 

Von den kalten harten Fakten gibt es viele

Wie Sand am Meer

Der Lohn der Sünde ist der Tod

Das hat Du bestimmt schon gehört

Unsere Geschichte malt ein Bild

Der Habgierigkeit, der Hinterlist und Sünde

Wenn das Böse seinen hässlichen Kopf erhebt

Nennen wir es manchmal Freund  

Aber in unseren Herzen wissen wir

Dass die Liebe den Haß besiegt 

Ich bete dass du die Antwort findest

Bevor es zu spät ist
